Bootleg 01:43
My head is sealed up airtight Screwed on right Dying for a slice of my life Y’all can’t have what’s up in here My checkered past, my secret fears Stole the parts but can’t make em fit And your bootleg shit gets smashed to bits Everybody wanna know what the sauce it Everybody want another piece of gossip Say what Does it take To keep all these vultures far away Say who Can’t be me Better rethink what you think you mean Say why Am I the guy That you try so hard to see inside Say how Now you know And that’s why I star in every show Threw all my effort in When I was talentless I tried to make something That I could call my own Then someone caught a glimpse And thought they wanted it Without the struggle it just don’t mean shit, no You look like everyone You take out all the fun Squeeze every dollar out of someone else’s heart But it’s a changing tide You’ll claim your final prize Then leave the corpse behind for AI art, oh

I can’t take my thoughts off you There’s something bout the things you do Illuminate the room, a lightbulb breakthrough I can’t shake you I gotta ask, what song is playing on your phone? I wanna take it and use it as my ringtone I never knew, that me and you were so alike I think it’s love at second sight I gotta ask, you doing anything tonight? I wanna take you to all the spots we both like I never knew, that meeting you would change my life Just call it love at second sight One more time, run it over in my mind Got the number dialed in and I’m rehearsing my lines, I’m like Just give it a try, no time to decide Just feels right Sitting right next to me, pulling all my heartstrings How do I set the scene, back when it started Once you start seeing the glow, It’s already out of control Just fanning the flames to grow I can read your mind like my name in your notebook Stare into your eyes knowing you got the same look Got me hypnotized, hanging off of your fish hook I’m swimming upstream just hoping to be the one that you let cook I don’t like this class but you’re making it worth it I know you forget all your pencils on purpose I know that you think attaching labels is worthless But if we’re so in sync maybe you’ll be my girlfriend I can’t take my thoughts off you There’s something bout the things you do Illuminate the room, a lightbulb breakthrough I can’t shake you I need a way to breach these walls I need a couple more missed calls Quiet in the lecture hall But your ringer was on, and the sound of the song said it all

I never gave you a charm for your stupid charm bracelet Cuz when we were wasted you told me you hate it Then he gave you one so you started to wear it I can’t help comparing, you look so embarrassed I said “I’m sure he’s nice” You looked away and said “yeah, maybe sometimes” How have I been? Well I’m doing fine Now that neither of us get fucked up every night So let’s pretend we’re feeling nothing You’re pretty sure he’s looking for a ring Please don’t invite me to the wedding You never liked expensive things That’s why I never gave you a charm for your stupid charm bracelet Cuz when we were wasted you told me you hate it Then he gave you one so you started to wear it I can’t help comparing, you look so embarrassed Maybe I should have gave you a charm for your stupid charm bracelet

Jock Horror 02:26
Something strange going on with me Nothing feels right this time, it’s like I try to play but you’re onto me No one else sees that side Something strange going on with me It’s a new face every day, back to back It’s a wrap, I admit defeat I’ll abandon my past I got to know, do you feel it now? Do you think all good things must end? Cuz I don’t wanna be the boy that you forget about But I don’t wanna tell you where I’ve been If I don’t leave, you’ll have to see, how I can be The very worst version of me How could you still believe I’m up to anything good? Kickback at somebody’s house I never met I encountered a vision that I could never forget And if I know I gotta have you then I know that I will I’m thinking one and done until I wake up and feel it still Too stubborn to think it’s genuine till the end of it I got no defense mechanism for tenderness And even if I could get myself to open up I’d be testing your trust the second I’m drunk enough Do you feel it now? Do you think all good things must end? Cuz I don’t wanna be the boy that you forget about But I don’t wanna tell you where I’ve been If I don’t leave, you’ll have to see, how I can be The very worst version of me How could you still believe I’m up to anything good? Something strange going on with me Nothing feels right this time, it’s like I try to play but you’re onto me No one else sees that side Something strange going on with me It’s the same face every day, back to back It’s too bad history repeats, Can’t abandon my past Ooh girl, I’m tryna be down with ya, New girl, I’m tryna hit town with ya There’s nothing like the taste of wine, yeah There’s nothing like a waste of time Ooh girl, you tryna be down with me? New girl, you tryna come round early? There’s nothing like the taste of wine, yeah There’s nothing like a place to hide

Fake Fans 03:17
You’re a fake fan You don’t even know who I am You just know what you want And how to get it fast I don’t know why I give so much to see you smile While you count down the days Till I go out of style You been dancing around All of my questions about How I don’t feel free right now I feel like I lose myself in your arms And forget that I’m supposed to be standing up for me Before you break my heart Oh it’s no big deal, I’m just in love with you You’re not sure how you feel, might as well tell the truth And that’s exactly what I’m saying now You got me thinking I’m insane now And as a matter of fact, before you talk that smack, Lemme give you something to think about You’re a fake fan You don’t even know who I am You just know what you want And how to get it fast I don’t know why I give so much to see you smile While you count down the days Till I go out of style You’re a fake fan You don’t even know who I am You just keep up the act Till you get cast again I don’t know why I let it go on in denial While you count down the days Till I go out of style Put the camera away, I’m not posing for another selfie today Can we do a single thing without you taking a pic? Why can’t I take you out without you bringing your clique? Have you ever thought maybe people don’t need to see Every minute of the hours that you spend with me? And when the screen goes dark, it’s like a change occurs Where’s the person from before and could I speak to her? Because she started something that you don’t wanna finish I fell in love with a person, you fell in love with an image And now you realize maybe I ain’t fitting the frame A part of me you’ll never see that no filter could change Oh, it’s no big deal, you never cared at all I wish I knew then what I know now I’m all torn up, it’s all your fault

about

“Where most young rock bands are happily constrained by the self imposed limitations of a ‘dead’ rock music scene, Cheem dreams of the arena. The pop music arena, specifically. Cheem’s music packs a punch, with finely tuned snares puncturing holes in sheets of crispy distorted guitars, while easily holding its own melodically through a sly humor redolent of peak-mid 2000s emo. Cheem fights for the future of rock by remembering it used to exist as a chart heavyweight in its own regard; their music swings for the senses and consistently connects. Led by Sam Nazaretian’s clarion tenor, grounded by Skye Holden’s deceptively complex rapping, and backed by a band that that can alternate between Limp Bizkit levels of blunt force impact and Pinback-esque subtle complexity; Cheem is the future of accessible heavy music.”
- Holiday Kirk

If Guilty Pleasure represented Cheem finding their artistic niche, then their upcoming 11-minute “Fast Fashion” EP is a nonstop celebration of the band’s unique nu-pop stylings. Despite featuring their most blatantly heavy guitar work to date, Cheem somehow finds even more space to layer in subtlety, melody and dynamics. With guitarist Gabe Weitzman at the mixing/production helm, Cheem’s wide genre-blending tendencies flow seamlessly. Five tracks explore frustrations with personal, professional and parasocial relationships for a band breaking free from DIY. The “Fast Fashion” EP is a lightning-fast listen by design, filled with layers that reward repeated plays.
